Bali Vacation: A Fusion of Tropical Asian and Modern Design

Ching Jiun Yu's Award-Winning Residential House Design

Ching Jiun Yu's Bali Vacation project, a residential house design, combines tropical Asian elements with modern humanistic features. The design, which uses rattan, wood, and grille materials to create a comfortable vacation atmosphere, reflects modern residents' love for natural life and exquisite fashion taste.

The unique properties of this design lie in its simplification of the compartment burden and the use of hollow rattan furniture and grille elements to introduce sunlight. This approach opens up smooth and free movement, echoing the outdoor tropical flowers and plants and the green scenery. The interior uses natural wood and gray matter as the color basis of the space, leading the residents to explore the holiday lifestyle of New Asia.

The design realization technology focuses on public areas such as the living room, kitchen, and study room. These spaces reduce the visual burden of the compartments and retain spacious circulation and vision. The ceiling uses a large area of wood and iron light troughs to expand the space axis through the combing of lines, bringing a more open sense of space. The design of the wooden grille achieves privacy and introduces light and green scenery.

The design specifications revolve around nature and modern humanity as the design theme. The warm wood color system and grille design reduce the visual burden brought by the solid wall. The indoor space wanders between natural greenery and graceful and orderly light and shadow, with Western-style rattan sofas, furniture, and lighting, which is visually more fashionable and lighter.

The design interaction allows residents to relax and wander at any time, stay in nature, appreciate the changes of the four seasons, and become a topic of conversation and interaction in life. The design research focuses on retaining a spacious movement and vision in the public realm and introducing light and green scenery through the design of the wooden grille.

One of the design challenges was striking a balance between privacy and openness, and integrating the different styles of Asian and modern simplicity. This required appropriate acceptance and rejection. Despite these challenges, the design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
